Dr. Sarita Ghimire, a Gyane-oncologist and public health expert, is a Medical Director of Nepal Cancer Care Foundation (NCCF). She is pivotal in establishment of this institute with personal financial contribution since inception of the idea and providing expertise as an unpaid volunteer till date. As an expert consultant, she has led the cervical cancer screening and prevention preventive activities in Nepal through government of Nepal. She has worked for designing and developing the National guidelines for Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention, manuals and for its update. Strong advocate of HPV vaccination and was instrumental in carrying out the HPV vaccination pilot program of Nepal government. She is the main pillar for program success of GAVI Vaccination Program as she has led the training program of all health workers of those districts to initiate screening of mothers along with daughters’ vaccination. She has experience of working with both national and international organization including Ministry of Health, local governments, WHO, UNFPA. At the moment, she has been advocating to initiate and introduce HPV test as a first choice of screening method in government level in Nepal. Recently completed the standard operating procedure (SOP) writing for HPV test through WHO to government of Nepal. In addition, she had conducted several researches in this field and has fully dedicated her life towards cervical cancer prevention and elimination from Nepal.
